Abstract

1413103 Heat fixing XEROX CORP 26 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973] 8731/74 Heading G2H In a pressure roll fusing apparatus for an electrostatographic copying machine of the kind in which first and second co-operating rollers of which one is heated are latched together into nip forming contact against the action of a bias spring or springs, and the latch is released to allow the bias to spring the first roller away from the second roller when stopping the machine; motion control means, operable on release of the latch, are provided to dampen the bias produced movement of the first roller so as to reduce shock loads attending subsequent stopping of said first roller at the end of said movement. The control means exemplified comprises a fixed and a rotatable disc separated by a small clearance filled with a viscous liquid.
