Abstract

1411574 Pipe joints BUSS AG 20 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58780/72 Heading F2G [Also in Division B3] In a method of connecting a pipe 4 to a pressure vessel 3, an opening is cut in the vessel wall of larger diameter than that of the pipe, a connection member 1 is welded in the opening at 2 and the pipe 4 is welded to the connection member at 7, 8. In one embodiment, as shown, the connection member 1 is of double-convex lenticular shape and has a bore to receive the pipe 4 therethrough. Alternatively, the member 1 may be of double, base-to-base conical shape. In another arrangement, the member 1 is plano-convex and the pipe is butt-welded around a bore through the member 1 of a diameter equal to that of the pipe bore 6.
