Abstract

1411388 Electrolytic flotation apparatus SIMON-HARTLEY Ltd 28 Aug 1973 [19 Sept. 1972] 43302/72 Heading C1C An electrolytic flotation apparatus comprises a plurality of baffle plates arranged at spaced intervals longitudinally of a flow path for liquid through the tank between a liquid inlet to and a liquid outlet from the tank, respectively, each said plate extending transversely with respect to said flow path and the side edges of adjacent baffle plates being laterally displaced whereby the liquid is constrained to follow a tortuous path within the tank between the inlet and the outlet. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 the plates 30 and 31 are arranged in laterally displaced pairs. The liquid treated may be activated sludge and sludge may be removed from the top of the tank by scraper blades mounted on endless chains. The gas bubbles may be produced using a plate-like cathode and a plurality of anodes in the form of parallel transversely extending longitudinally spaced rods.
