Abstract
1409692 Charging blast furnaces ISHIKAWAJIMA-HARIMA JUKOGYO KK 30 Jan 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 04335/74 Heading F4B Blast furnace charging mechanism comprises two concentric independently mounted sleeves 1 and 4 with a distribution shoot 13 connected to their lower ends, said shoot being rotated by the rotation of both sleeves and tilted by relative axial movement thereof. The inner sleeve 1 has a flange 1a supported by a ring gear 2 in a housing 6, said ring gear being driven by a motor 7 through an idler gear 8. The outer wall of sleeve 1 has vertical lands 11 engaging grooves 12 in the wall of the outer sleeve 4 which has a flange 5 engaged by roller bearings in a ring 10 supported by the rams 9. The shoot 13 hooks over pivot pins 14 on sleeve 1 and is connected by pivotal links 15 with sleeve 4, whereby movements of the latter induced by rams 9 are translated into angular shoot movements. Seals 18, 19, 20 make the mechanism gas tight, seal 18, being associated with a water cooled ring 17. In a modification (Fig. 2) the outer sleeve is rotatably driven and the inner sleeve moves vertically.
