1409540 Lamps COMPTEURS SCHLUMBERGER 19 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58670/72 Heading F4R [Also in Division H5] An infra-red radiation emitter comprises a casing 26 with a flat infra-red transparent window 12, a sleeve 6 with a closed end 8, perpendicular to, and in contact with the window at a point so as to reduce conduction heat losses, the sleeve radiating in the infra-red when heated by an electrical resistance heating wire 2 wound on refractory tube 4, and means (conical depression 10, spring blade 22, centering block 16, cement 30, 28) for maintaining the window and sleeve in contact and for keeping the longitudinal axis of the sleeve from moving. The sleeve 6 and tube 4 are coaxial. Reflector 36 is of stainless steel. Window 12 is of silicon or germanium. By enclosing the heating wire within the radiation producer, the window is prevented from darkening due to sublimation from the heating wire. By immobilizing the radiation producer, a very stable radiation flux is emitted.
