Abstract

1408699 Separating oil and water CHERNOMORSKOE TSENTRALNOE PROEKTNO-KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO 1 June 1973 26287/73 Heading B1D An apparatus for separating an oil - water mixture comprises means 1 for receiving the mixture from collection vessel 2 of a ship and for supplying it to settling tanks 5, 6 connected in series, a centrifugal pump 9 for withdrawing liquid from the bottom of tank 6 and air-liquid jet eductor 14 connected to the outlet of pump 9 for creating a vacuum in tanks 5, 6. A screen 12 in means 1 removes solid debris from the mixture. The chambers 7 and 8 may each be provided with means for indicating the liquid levels therein. In use the separating operation is carried out until oil appears from the eductor 14, indicating tank 6 is filled with oil.
