Abstract
1407969 Electro-chemical analysis NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 14 Nov 1972 [23 Nov 1971] 54369/71 Heading G1N An electrical transducer, such as an oxygen permeable membrane electrode, is releasably secured to a container filled with a fluid having a standardized value of the characteristic to which the transducer is variable such as water saturated with air. As shown the transducer is of the type described in Patent Specification 1325873 including a catheter 2 provided with lead pellet anode 1 and silver cathode 3, a membrane (not shown) covering the end of the pellet. A plug 6 carrying the catheter 2 is provided with boss 8 which fits into a tube 7 filled with the standardized fluid 10 and is secured therein by adhesive tape 9. Before use the assembly is sterilized by α-rays. The measuring instrument to which the transducer is connected is calibrated with the transducer still in the standardized fluid. The container 7 is then removed for normal use.
