Abstract
1407648 Slider assembly device for sliding- clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 25 Sept 1973 [3 Oct 1972] 44875/73 Heading E2S A device 10 for assembling on a fastener chain slider of the type including a pull tab S 4 pivotally supported on a lug S 6 on the slide comprises a vertically elongated casing 11 having an opening 18 therein for accommodating a series of sliders S that are transported by their own gravity, a guiding means 19 disposed in said opening and guiding the movement of said series of sliders, a holding means 23 integral with said guiding means 19 and holding a leading one of said sliders in position for assembly on the slide fastener chain F, resilient means 27 for releasably holding said leading slider, and means 28 for arresting and preventing said series of sliders from moving 'backward during the assembly operation. As shown in Fig 1 the device comprises a rectangular casing 10 which acts as a slider chute and is formed of side walls 12, 13, a rear wall 14, and inwardly-directed protruberances 15 which define a slit 17 in the front edge. Each of a train of sliders S 1 accommodated in the chute, comprises a top S 1 and a bottom wing S 2 which wings are connected at one end by a neck S and each carry a lug S 6 , S 7 to which a pull tab S 4 , S 5 is pivoted. The sliders as they descend by gravity. are guided by a pair of spaced-apart rails 20, 21 which define a slit of a width to slidingly receive a lug S 6 , and each have a thickness equal to the spacing between the top surface of the wing S 6 and the pivotal end S 8 of the pull tab S 4 such that these. parts of the slider ride astride the opposed rails 20, 21 as they descend in the chute. Each slider proceeds, in turn, to the slider holding means 23, which extends from the guiding means 19 and consists of a pair of tapered tongues 24, 25, the, leading slider S' in the train being resiliently maintained in place at the free ends of the tongues 24, 25, which are curved slightly upwardly, by spring members 26, 27. The latter, having their ends 26', 27' biased toward each other, are shaped to fit the sideflanges S 9 of the slider S' to hold the latter in position as it is assembled, by an operator, on a fastener chain F. The interior face of the rear wall has a series of ledges 28 which are engaged by the tabs S 5 to hold the sliders against backward movement while the chain F is being drawn through a slider S. In a modification, Fig 4 not shown, backward movement of the sliders S is prevented by spring- loaded levers (30) which are pivoted within the guide rails (20, 21).
