[Also in Division F2] A machine for driving corrugated fasteners includes a magazine 36 having a plunger 38 for moving the fasteners towards one end, and a nose piece comprising one plate 46, defining a slot 44 in which moves a driver 48 and another plate 42 comprising a cam surface 52 which moves a fastener transversely while it is driven by the driver 48. Corrugated fasteners of the kind described in Specification 1,165,482, adhered together, are biased forwardly -in the magazine by a spring 158 attached at one end to the plunger 38, passing round a pulley 60 and fixed at the other end to the interior of a lid 140 fitting on the magazine. The lid 140 is generally U-shaped in cross-section, Fig. 15, and has side flanges 143, 144 which engage in one of the pairs of opposed grooves 138 in side walls 136, 137 of the magazine 36. The lid 140 is held in its closed position by a detent 152 having enlarged portions 252, one of which engages an arcuate slot 145 in the side flange 144 of the lid. The detent 152 may be depressed against the force of a spring 62 to release the lid 140 and allow it to be partially withdrawn to open the magazine for loading. A detent 150 may be depressed against the force of a spring 62 to release the lid 140 allowing it to be completely retracted and re-inserted between another pair of grooves 138 corresponding to a different size of fastener. In a second embodiment, Fig. 17 (not shown), there may be only one detent (68) biased by a leaf spring (69), and this detent has wide enlarged sections (168), which may engage with an arcuate slot (72) in the cover and intermediate enlarged sections 268 which may engage with an abutment (74) Fig. 16 (not shown). A further embodiment, Fig. 19 (not shown), is only provided with a single detent in the form of a spring latch (78) engageable either with a slot (80) or abutment (82) Fig. 18 (not shown) at the end of an inwardly sloping slot (84). The plunger 38 has projections 156 engageably slidable in a slot 146 in the lid 140, and the slot 44 in the plate 46 has side stops 50 which engage flat side portions 28, Fig. 5, of the leading fastener so that the driver 48 only engages the leading fastener, pushing it downwards and breaking the adhesive seal between it and the reset fastener.
