Abstract
1407087 Centrifugal gas washer VYZKUMNY USTAV CHEMICKYCH ZARIZEN1 BRNO 21 Sept 1972 [21 Sept 1971] 43725/ 72 Heading B1R Apparatus for contacting a rising flow of gas with a downward flow of liquid by repeated centrifugal atomisation comprises a column 1 with a plurality of operational compartments, a vertical shaft 4 on which is mounted for each compartment at least one spraying tray 5 with which there is associated a droplet separator 7 for separating the entrained sprayed droplets from the gas and returning the droplets to the spraying tray for re-spraying and an annular circumferential trough 8 for supplying the remainder of the liquid droplets to a lower compartment, and a head 3 on the column accomodating a final and mechanical separator 9 which provides for the return of the liquid droplets separated therein to the uppermost spraying tray. Each spraying tray may be a flat annular ring, a truncated conical jacket or a rotary member with several angled openings therein. A screening plate 15 may be mounted below each tray which extends radially beyond the tray.
