1406349 Locking devices ISRINGHAUSEN Gebr 25 Oct 1973 [28 Oct 1972] 49713/73 Heading E2A In a vehicle seat having a seat frame 4 mounted on an under-frame 7 so as to be able to oscillate relative thereto a locking device for locking the seat relative to the under-frame includes a stop bolt 9 attached either to the seat frame or the under-frame, and a hook 8 pivotally mounted on the underframe or the seat frame respectively. The hook is pivotable into two end positions in one of which it engages with the stop bolt and in the other of which the stop bolt is freely movable, the hook being held in the two end positions by a tension spring 15 which is attached at one end to the underframe and at the other end to the hook in such a way that the two points of attachment lie in a plane at a right angle to the pivot axis 10 of the hook, and the points of attachment of the spring are arranged on opposite sides of the pivot axis. The point of attachment of the spring to the under-frame is mounted so as to be movable between two end positions lying on opposite sides of a plane containing the axis 10 and the point of attachment of the spring to the hook. As shown, the hook has noses 13, 14 which can abut the underframe to limit movement of the hook to the end positions thereof, the spring 15 'being attached to the end of a lever 19 mounted on the pivot bolt 10 of the hook and the ends of the two arms of which provide limiting stops for abutment with the underframe. The attachment point 18 of the spring is moved along an arc about the axis of the bolt 10 by a lever 23 pivoted at 24 to the under-frame whereby the hook may be engaged with or disengaged from the stop bolt 9. In Fig. 2, the lever 20 is operated by a handle 21 which extends through an arcuate slot 22 in the under-frame. In a modification, the point of attachment of the spring to the under-frame is moved by a cable or an electromagnet.
