Abstract
1405854 Treating lead stabilized PVC DEUTSCHE SOLVAY-WERKE GmbH 3 Jan 1973 [8 Jan 1972] 336/73 Heading C3P A PVC powder composition stabilized with a lead compound or compounds including both basic lead and fatty acid groups is treated with carbon dioxide to improve the processability. The carbon dioxide may be in gas or solid form or is added as a material which releases carbon dioxide. The whole composition or a precursor may be treated provided the precursor contains at least some lead compound. The amount of carbon dioxide is 0À002-2% of the material treated and treatment is effected at 20-140‹ C., if desired at increased pressure, with mixing or rotating. In the example the material is to be used for producing a wood grain effect on extrusion and contains PVC, dibasic lead stearate and phosphite, ester wax, calcium stearate, pigment and colour granules.
