Abstract

1404861 Transportation systems SIEMENS AG 13 Oct 1972 [14 Oct 1971] 47478/72 Heading B7L A transportation system comprises a vehicle 6 supported and transversely guided by respective pairs of superconductive conductor loops 1 which react with ferromagnetic rails 5, the loops, Fig. 1, being elongate with major sides a, b, cranked at both ends and provided with thermal and electrical insulation 4, the loops when energized being disposed such that the two sides and the associated rail are co-planar. The loops are so dimensioned that deflections thereof normal to the planes produce forces greater than deflections parallel to the planes. Guide rollers or slides may co-operate with the rails to assist lateral stabilization and additional ferromagnetic rails surround the sides of the loops. The vehicle may be driven by linear motor 9, 10 and each loop adjustably mounted on the vehicle by means 13.
