Abstract

1404648 Railway switch J C A ROSEVEARE 26 Sept 1973 [5 Oct 1972] 45975/72 Heading B7L A switch, for use with a monorail track which provides lateral guidance for vehicles with dependent side guides, comprises track sections 2 and 3 adapted to connect track 4 with either track 5 or 6 respectively, the track sections 2 and 3 forming an assembly 1 pivotable about an axis 7 by spigots engaging pedestals 8 and 9, the assembly further having a notch 11 in web 12 which receives a pivot shaft in demountable fittings 13 and 14 and extends through pedestal 10, the longitudinal median planes of the track sections 2 and 3 being inclined by an angle not exceeding 110 degrees and not less than 15 degrees. The assembly 1 is pivoted between its two positions by a ram 31 having its rod 30 connected by links 28, 29 to a pair of further links 23, 24 pivoted together at their first ends 27 and at their other ends to the assembly 1 and base 26 respectively. A pair of switches may be disposed in tandem with one reversed end for end, thus providing straight through or interchange paths between two side-by-side tracks. A third switch section may be provided and the sections be either straight or curved.
