Abstract

1403976 Printed circuits PERSTORP AG 29 Aug 1972 [30 Aug 1971] 47895/74 Divided out of 1401815 Heading H1R A printed circuit board with plated through holes is produced by transferring an electrolytically deposited layer of copper or copper alloy less than 17 Ám thick from a first base in the form of a foil of aluminium, zinc or their alloys or steel less than 200 Ám thick to final base of fibre reinforced thermosetting plastics material, removing the first base, forming holes through the final base, plating the holes and etching the copper or copper alloy layer to form the circuit. The final base may be glass or polyester fibre reinforced epoxy resin. The through holes are plated electrolessly and a negative mask is applied to the copper layer. The exposed copper on the surface and in the holes is then thickened electrolytically and the mask dissolved. A quick etch then removes the parts of the layer not thickened to define the circuit.
