Abstract

1402870 Marine transport J J BYLO 6 Oct 1972 [7 Oct 1971] 17627/74 Divided out of 1402868 Headings B7A and B7S A marine transport system comprises a plurality of modular cargo hold units 210 which are buoyant and are provided with access hatches 211 and conventional cargo working gear such as king posts 213 with booms 214, a self propelled vessel 209 for moving the hold units 210 between ports and being constructed so as to mate with and hold a unit 210 in position thereon, the vessel having ballasting means to be varied and lowered in the water into and out of engagement with a hold unit 210, and deck means at the parts of the system for holding the units at ships 225 for unloading and loading. The units 210 are also provided with water-tight end doors mounted on hinges 219 for end loading and unloading of the units.
