1402368 Cradle lifting mechanism VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY 9 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11460/73 Heading D1J An apparatus for lifting a bobbin holder 1 from a driving drum 9 of a spooling mechanism comprises a lever 14 pivoted at 12 on a stationary support 5, the arm 14 being capable of moving between an inactive position Fig. 2 and an operative one Fig. 3 in which a cam surface 19 on the arm 14 lifts the bobbin holder 1 by engaging an arcuate bearing surface 10 that is rigid with the holder 1, the radius R of the arcuate bearing surface 10 being longer than the radius r of the cam surface 19 about the pivot 12. The arm 14 is moved manually when it is desired to lift the holder 1 and in its operative setting the arm 14 is arrested by a locking mechanism 21-24. The locking mechanism includes a peg 23 that can drop into a notch 24 in the arm 14 when the arm 14 is in its operative setting. When an electromagnet 22 is energized it attracts the peg 23 to remove it from the notch 24 and so permit the holder 1 to move back towards the driving drum 9. The radii r, r 1 , and R are such that, no matter about the size of the package during its build up, the package is always spaced by the same amount from the drive roll 9 when the arm 14 moves to its operative setting.
