Abstract

1402361 Transport containers WESTERWALDER EISENWERK GERHARD KG 8 Feb 1973 [29 Feb 1972 30 Sept 1972] 6132/73 Heading B8P A fluid-tight transport container comprises at least two part-cylindrical wall sections 22, 23 extending between end walls 1 and providing a pair of intersection lines 24, exterior support elements 27 adjacent the pair of lines, and tensioned reinforcing elements 10 arranged inside the container in the plane of the pair of lines and having ends 30 which penetrate the intersection lines and are joined to the support elements. The support elements 27 are U- shaped, and may be disposed off set as shown or symmetrically with elements 10 extending between each pair of opposed limbs of the U's. In this latter case a central wall section is provided between the lateral cylindrical sections 22, 23. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) there are four part cylindrical sections with support elements at the intersection lines at the sides as well as at the top and bottom. Reinforcing elements between each pair of opposed support elements are connected together in the middle of the container. An axial tube may extend between these connections. The reinforcing elements may be twisted to prevent buckling or be formed by circular or flattened tubes. Struts or gussets may connect the corners of the end walls to the support members. There may be rails along the base of the container to form a guide channel to locate the container on a vehicle.
