Abstract

1402068 Mounting rollers for free rotation CONSOLIDATED FOODS CORP 2 Nov 1973 51035/73 Heading F2U [Also in Division B5] A roller assembly comprising an outer roller member 10 formed of a first plastics material and rotatably supported on a stator member 11 is made by injecting a second plastics material into a mould cavity at least circumferentially spaced portions of which are bounded by the outer roller member, the second plastics material having moulding shrinkage characteristics to provide a running clearance between the members 10, 11. Preferably the second plastics material has higher shrinkage characteristics than the first. The roller assembly may be made by a two-step injection moulding process. The outer roller member may be of glass reinforced plastics material, e.g. high density polyethylene, nylon or polyterephthalate. The stator member may be of polypropylene, or a polyacetal based oil lubricated plastics material. The stator member 11 is preferably of triangular configuration (Figs. 1, 2) but may be circular (Figs. 5, 6, not shown).
