Abstract

1402064 Switchgear structures SIEMENS AG 19 Sept 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 44041/73 Heading H1N [Also in Division H2] In a metal-enclosed H.V. switching installation a surge-diverter or overvoltage arrester 16 (Class H2H) is mounted on the installation either adjacent the bus-bar selectors 5, 6 or between the output voltage transformer 13 and cable connector 15 (as in Fig. 2, not shown). The bus-bar isolator switches 5, 6 are mounted above the bus-bar chambers 1, 2 and heavyduty earthing switches 10, 12 are provided for each connection to the power switch 11. The enclosure may be filled with sulphur-halofluoride and since the surge-diverter is composed of a series of zinc oxide discs and no arcing occurs within a housing 17 for gas other than air it is not necessary to seal the connection between the diverter and the rest of the enclosure when the diverter is to be filled with SF 6 .
