Abstract
1402004 Valves KOBE STEEL Ltd 29 Sept 1972 [30 Sept 1971] 45039/72 Heading F2V A valve comprises a valve closure disc member 3 freely mounted on an eccentric portion 2<SP>1</SP> of an operatng spindle 2, the closure member having blocks 4 which house a guide pin 9 urged outwardly, the operating spindle carrying a disc 7 having an aperture 15 and a second guide pin 8 therein, and the valve body having a groove 16 therein such that when the valve is closed (se Fig. 5) the pins 8 and 9 and groove 16 are out of alignment; on initial rotation of 90 degrees of the spindle, the pin 9 is carried into alignment with the groove 16 by virtue of the displacement of the closure member due to the eccentric portion of the spindle and the same rotation of the spindle causes the pin 8 to align with the pin 9 (see Fig. 6). The pin 9 urges the pin 8 into engagement with groove 16 so that the closure member 3 is locked to the spindle 2. Further rotation of the spindle causes rotation of the valve closure member to the open position (Fig. 7, not shown). The blocks 4 may also house pins 10 which prevent the valve member from rotating during the initial opening movement by co-operating with a groove 17 in the valve body
