Abstract

1401396 Valves BRITISH LEYLAND UK Ltd 9 April 1974 [15 June 1973] 28510/73 Heading F2V In a thermostat for an engine cooling system a valve member 3 attached to a wax capsule element 1 co-operates with a seating formed directly on a coolant outlet member 5 bolted to the engine cylinder head. The capsule slides in an annular reaction member 6 secured by two arms (7), Fig. 1 (not shown), and a helical spring 9 urges the valve member towards the seating. The actuator rod 2 of the capsule locates in a socket 11 formed in the inner surface of the outlet member 5. An air bleed passage 12, in parallel with the valve, is controlled by a nylon valve member 13.
