Abstract
1399528 Transformer tap-changing arrangements A I KRASOV 20 June 1972 28814/72 Heading HIT An on-load tap changer comprises at least four switching members, load switching means 7, a selector switch 34 having at least two movable contacts 6 and 8, and a resistor 5 for limiting the current appearing at the switchover. In the static state the load current I h flows through main contacts 1 and 8 while auxiliary contacts 2, 3, 4 and 6 have no current flowing through them. To change from tapping 9 to tapping 28 the following sequence occurs. Shaft 11 is rotated by actuator 10 to close contacts 3 and 2 and 19 and 20. In this position all contacts are closed and current can also flow through thyristors 15 and 16. Further rotation breaks contacts 1 and 4, and the load current is then carried by the thyristors until contacts 19 and 20 open and turn them off. Current must now flow through contact 3, resistor 5 and contact 6, and no current flows through contact 8 which may be moved to the tapping 28 by means of shaft 26 turned by Geneva cross 24. This shifting does not turn the contact 8, connected to shaft 27, because of the coupling 23 which ensures that the turning of Geneva cross 25 lays behind that of cross 24. Contacts 1 and 4 and 19 and 20 now make and the load current flows again in contact 8 and through tapping 28. There is current flowing between tappings 28 and 9 due to the voltage existing across this stage. This current is limited to not more than I h by the value of resistor 5. Contacts 2 and 3 break and the current passes through thyristor 15 and 16 until contacts 19 and 20 break. Contact 6 is now dead and is moved to tapping 28 by Geneva cross 25 to complete the switching operation.
