Abstract

1398922 Vehicle couplings R J GREATBATCH 1 March 1973 [6 March 1972 24 July 1972] 10314/72 and 34577/72 Heading B7T A vehicle coupling comprises a horizontal peg 10 on a first vehicle adapted to be received in a slotted plate 12 mounted on a second vehicle ramp 14 and edge 15 guiding the peg into the slot 13. Either the peg or plate may be pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis to urge the peg into the base of the slot, the slot being oppositely inclined if the plate is pivoted. In Fig. 3 slots 13 are formed in the limbs of a U-section member 12 and engage the opposite ends of peg 10 mounted on a gooseneck 11. Plates 15A guide the peg and a locking pin 18 passes through both limbs of member 12 and the forward end of the gooseneck. Universal movement of the coupling is provided by spindle 20 and stub axle 23. The gooseneck may be replaced by a drawbar.
