Abstract

1398662 Tensioning webs MASCHINENFABRIK WIFAG 11 Sept 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 42705/73 Heading B8R A web tensioning device comprises a pendulum roller 3, Fig. 1, bearing on the web to preset a desired tension in the web 2, a measuring device 5 associated with the roller for producing a signal corresponding to the deviation in web tension from the present tension and applying it to a signal amplifier 6 which emits an output signal in turn applied to control members 7 which actuate disc brakes 9, Fig. 4a, coupled to a web roll shaft. Preferably the control members 7a...7d are provided with pre-settable springs which are effective to apply the brake shoes 16 successively to the brakes 9 so the pressure in a fluid medium pipe 8 increases progressively to vary correspondingly the braking moment applied to the web roll shaft.
