Abstract
1398437 Measuring angular displacements; moving coil instruments GEORGE KENT Ltd 9 July 1973 [10 July 1972] 32207/72 Headings G1N and G1Q The angular displacement of the rotor of a moving coil meter is determined by a differential capacitor whose moving electrode is the metal bobbin 15 (Fig.3) on which the moving coil is wound and whose fixed electrodes are partcylindrical plates 16-19 attached to the cylindrical faces of the magnet poles 12, 13 through an insulating layer 20, the pairs of plates 16, 17 and 18, 19 being separated by diagonal slits to produce a differential action with displacement of the moving electrode 15. The central cylindrical magnetic member 14 is fed with A.C., and the current to each pair of opposing electrodes 16, 19 and 17, 18 is sensed by a transistor 22, 23 respectively, the difference being indicative of the angular displacement.
