Abstract
1397105 Tampon and insertion tool SVENSKA CELLULOSA AB 4 May 1972 [25 May 1971] 20734/72 Heading A5R A menstrual liquid absorption tampon 6 in combination with an insertion tool (I) is characterised in that the tampon comprises two longitudinally extending channels 9, 10 and in that the insertion tool comprises fingers 3, 4 each of which is disposed in one of the said channels, the fingers extending from, a handle of portion 2 of the insertion tool. The tampon 6, may be formed by folding- over or folding-in and compacting a sheet-like liquid absorptive material, and the channels, 9, 10 which in Fig 5, open outwardly, are formed by postioning the fingers 3, 4 of the insertion tool in the folds of the tampon before the compacting operation. The tampon is compacted such that the cross-section is substantially oval or rectangular and the channels may open to the narrow sides of the tampon through narrow slots, or the channels are bores in the tampon. The insertion tool (Figs 1 and 2, not shown) is formed as an integral unit of small thickness comprising a flat handle and two substantially straight fingers projecting from the handle and in the plane of the handle. The insertion tool is formed of a material having a low friction coefficient when in contact with the tampon material, and may entirely or in part consist of an easily dissolvable fibrous material or a water-soluble plastic material.
