Abstract

1396241 Urinals C F OLIVERO 19 Jan 1973 [21 Jan 1972] 2839/73 Heading A4N [Also in Division E1] A combined sanitary closet and urinal consists of a bowl unit 11 and a low-flush cistern 16 for flushing the bowl, one wall of the cistern having integrally formed therein a urinal 24 which is adapted to be flushed by water from the cistern 16 independently of the flushing arrangement for flushing the closet bowl and which is drained via an S-shaped trap 29 into the trap 13 of the bowl unit 11. A valve 34, normally closed by a spring 35, is opened by manipulation of handle 36 to flush a relatively small proportion of the water in the cistern into the bowl 25 of the urinal, each time the latter is used, the amount of water consumed being determined by the level of port 32. Outlet 27 of the urinal leads via passage 26 in the base of the cistern to the trap 29. Instead of facing sideways, as shown in Figs.3 and 5, the urinal may be integral with a diagonal wall of the cistern Figs.6-8 (not shown), so as to face diagonally forwards.
