Abstract

1395969 Dual fuel engines FARYMANN DIESEL FARNY & WEIDMANN OHG 16 Nov 1972 53054/72 Heading F1B A compression ignition engine is used with a first liquid fuel with poor ignition qualities and an added quantity of liquid fuel with good ignition quantities, the higher quality fuel supply being controlled by a device in response to engine speed so that the supply is switched off at a desired speed and switched on below that speed the engine including a transfer pump and an injection pump for feeding the first fuel to the engine, the connecting pipe between the transfer pump and the injection pump being connected to a metering pump for the second fuel. The lower quality fuel e.g. benzine, is supplied by pump 6 via filter 7 to injection pump 3 and thence to injector 4. Excess fuel delivery to pump 3 is returned via overflow valve 8. The higher quality fuel is delivered to the connecting pipe 11 feeding filter 7 by a metering pump 10 which is controlled by a crankshaft-driven centrifugal switch 12 through a relay 15 and pulse generator or timer 18.
