Abstract

1394320 Fuel tanks BRIDGESTONE TIRE KK 6 Nov 1973 [16 Nov 1972] 51488/73 Heading B7H A safety fuel tank which obviates fuel leakage after an impact comprises a fuel tank body 1 of rigid material, e.g. of metal or rigid synthetic resin enveloped by an impermeable and flexible bag 7 of nylon coated with urethane elastomer and provided with a layer of plastic foam, e.g. polyurethane foam. An opening 10 in the bag 7 closed by a zip fastener 9 or adhesive tape permits insertion of the tank body. Gaps between opening 7a and the bag are sealed by bands 11 engaging firmly around portions 7b, or by a resilient bush (12) Fig. 3 (not shown).
