Abstract
1394218 Gas-depolarized cells ENERGY CONVERSION Ltd 24 April 1972 [19 July 1971 4 Sept 1971] 33726/71 and 41333/71 Heading H1B The cathode (not shown) of a cylindrical metal-air cell is protected from damage by objects pushed through air-entry apertures 12 in an outer case 11, Fig. 1, by a louvre member 13 which obstructs the objects. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, the cell 31 has a casing 33 with air-entry apertures 32 and is surrounded by a rectangular outer case 34 having air-entry apertures 35 which are not aligned with the apertures 32. In another embodiment, Fig. 3, a member 53 of spring steel is sprung into the outer case 51 so that depressions 54 are aligned with the apertures 52. In the embodiment of Fig. 4, the cathode 75 is sealed to end cap 73 by a seal 74 having castellations 76 and these castellations are located between the cathode and air-entry apertures 72 in outer case 71.
