Abstract
1391196 Wells &c GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA 20 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 18380/72 Heading E1F Apparatus for installing tunnel, sections comprises a chassis 1 adapted to be moved over a conveyor 18 for debris, means for storing tunnel sections on the chassis, and a hydraulically operated means 10 for. placing sections in the lining and carried by the chassis. Sections 6', 6, 8 (Fig. 1) are carried by rollers 5 on the chassis, a carriage 7 being interposed between the rollers and the section 8. The ram 10 is pivoted about shaft 2<SP>IV</SP> and extended to place the section 6' on one side of the lining and abutting the sections 6" already laid on the floor of the tunnel. The section 6 is moved onto the ram which is operated to place this section on the other side of the lining. The key section 8 and the carriage 7 are moved onto the ram which is extended to set the key section in the lining. The rollers 5 and the inclined wheels 11 on which the chassis runs have rubber tyres. In a modification a pair of arms each having grippers for engaging sections are mounted on a ram, each arm being pivotally mounted on the ram. In a further modification a pair of shoes fixed to the sections are mounted on a pivoted ram. In the use of the modifications the wheels of the chassis run on rails and the tunnel lining is formed by four segments. The floor sections are first laid, the rails are extended, the apparatus is advanced, and the roof sections are installed. The roof sections may be shorter than the floor sections and a key section may be fitted.
