Abstract

1390000 Jet dyeing machine GASTON GOUNTY DYEING MACHINE CO 25 June 1973 [18 July 1972] 29968/73 Heading D1L A jet dyeing machine for treating cloth S in endless rope or strand form comprises a kier 10 having a loading port 14 and containing the treating liquor B, a superstructure 20 disposed on top of the kier and communicating with the kier via vertical intake portion 22 and discharge portion 26, a driven lifter roll 30 located at the junction of the vertical intake portion 22 and a horizontal section 24 of the superstructure, a venturi structure 32 housed in this horizontal section downstream of the lifter roll and supplying the jet of treatment liquor which forwards the strand S through the superstructure and a perforated baffle member 50 located in the vessel adjacent the downstream end of the discharge portion 26 to separate part of the recycled liquor from the strand S and simultaneously deflect the strand into the liquor treatment chamber formed in the kier by J- sectioned members 16 and 18. Treatment liquor is continuously supplied to the venturi 32 from the kier 10 via pipe 42, pump 44, heat exchanger 46 and valve 48. At the start of a dyeing operation the kier is filled with water through line 52 and dyestuff and chemicals are added through line 56. Upon completion of a wet treatment operation, which typically includes pre-washing, dyeing and scouring, the strand S may be dried by removing the liquid bath through drain line 62 and circulating heated air through the venturi jet 32 and kier 10.
