Abstract

138,885. Kingsbury, A. Feb. 26, 1916, [Convention date]. Cooling lubricant.-A thrust bearing for vertical shafts having a number of pivoted bearing shoes carried by the rotating part is provided with means for cooling the fixed bearing and the lubricant. The fixed bearing is cooled by fluid delivered by a pipe 43 to a number of annular passages 42 which discharge into another pipe (not shown). The bearing is immersed in oil which is caused to circulate by the centrifugal action of the rotating parts through radial passages 49 in the bearing 26<b>, in which the oil is cooled.
