Abstract

1387012 Boots &c B M CAMERON 17 Feb 1972 [15 March 1971] 7444/72 Heading A3B A shoe e.g. for athletes comprises a ground engaging traction means 22, 24 rotatably mounted in a recess in the sole by means of a base plate 26, a circular carrier plate 30 and fasteners 44. The mounting assembly may be moulded into the sole and sealing means 34, 36, 38 may be provided between the traction means 22, 24 and the base plate 26 to keep out dirt etc. The ground engaging elements may be cleats 24 as shown or strips or a complete covering of brushes or bristles. The heel 18 may have a pair of narrow flat surfaces 60 which converge rearwardly, are separated by a shallow groove 62 and are provided with projections 64 at the rear which allow the wearer to obtain extra grip 'by digging in his heels.
