Abstract
1386103 Contractable bobbins S HATTORI 9 March 1972 [9 March 1971 5 June 1971] 11092/72 Heading B8M A bobbin having a tubular body is provided with a peripheral wall including at least one contractable wall portion 3, the contractable wall portion being composed of a plurality of connecting members 2 bent in V-shaped or inverted V-shaped form and arranged between continuous longitudinal wall portions 1 of the main body wherein the apices of the connecting members 2 are interconnected, whereby the connecting members 2 can be elastically bent at their apices to contract the wall portion 3 when the bobbin is subjected to pressure due to. the shrinkage of yarn wound thereon, e.g. during bleaching or dyeing. The bobbin may be composed only of a plurality of wall portions 1 and a plurality of wall portions 3. In a further embodiment, the bobbin also comprises wall portions having a plurality of apertures for the passage of treating liquid. Each wall portion 3 may be composed of both V-shaped members 2 and inverted V-shaped members 2. A steel wire spring may be embedded in some of the members 2 to aid recovery of the contractable wall portions to their original condition.
