Abstract
1383607 Pile-wire mechanism V COURTENS 6 Nov 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 50982/72 Heading DIE A device for inserting and withdrawing pilewires in a loom for weaving pile fabrics, comprises a carriage 22, 29 for engaging the pilewires, a guide 25 for the carriage extending substantially parallel to the loom tread beam, a pile-wire guide 27 pivoted at one end for movement towards and away from guide 25, such that in use the carriage is moved by chain 3 from a position opposite a chain wheel 1 to a position opposite a chain wheel 2 and guide 27 is simultaneously moved against guide 25 so that mechanism on the carriage can be actuated to engage the pile-wire in the fabric furthest from the reed. The wire moves inside a groove 28 formed in the guide 27. Continued movement of chain 3 causes the carriage to withdraw the engaged pile-wire from the fabric, the wire having a knife which cuts the pile warp loops lying over the wire. Guide 27 is then moved away from guide 25 and the carriage pushes the pile-wire back into the warp shed of the loom. Chain wheel 2 is driven via a chain 11 by a chain wheel 8 rotated by an eccentrically disposed crank 21, and slot 14 such the chain 3 is successively accelerated and decelerated during insertion and removal of a pile-wire.
