Abstract

1381037 Forging gears KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTE AG 31 Aug 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 40384/72 Heading B3H A bevel gear comprising a toothed frustoconical body 2 with a hollow stem 3 on its larger end face is made by cold forming a blank into a toothed frusto-conical body with a solid stem 1 and then cold pressing the shaped blank 1 to produce an axial bore in the stem and a solid stub 9 on the smaller end face of the body. The shaped blank 1 is mounted in a die 5 for cold pressing by a press tool 6 which causes the stub 9 to be formed by extrusion of the blank material through a bore 8 in the base of the die. The diameter of the bore 8 is smaller than the diameter of the press tool 6. The bore 8 is counterbored, 11, to reduce friction. The stub 9 is removed at a later stage.
