Abstract

1378364 Chlorinated PVC KANEGAFUCHI KAGAKU KOGYO KK 8 May 1973 [9 May 1972] 21965/73 Heading C3P Chlorinated PVC containing 57-73% chlorine is obtained by chlorinating a powder consisting of coagula which are membrane-free, have particle sizes of 30-200 Á and are formed from basic particles of size 0À5-2 Á and which have been obtained by polymerizing vinyl chloride in an aqueous phase with an oil-soluble initiator at 25-65‹ C. in the presence of (per 100 parts of monomer) 0À01-0À3 part of surface active agent, 0À005-0À3 part of a watersoluble metal salt and 0À01-0À3 part of a polymeric dispersing agent. Chlorination is effected with irradiation or in the presence of an auxiliary agent, e.g. TiCl 4 , SbCl 3 or PCl 5 .
