Abstract

1378136 Conveying articles BEKUM MASCHINENFABRIKEN GmbH 17 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23580/73 Heading B8A In an arrangement for feeding bottles 5 from a continuously driven screw conveyer 17 to a machine (not shown), a pocketed endless conveyer 10 which feeds the screw conveyer 17 comprises a base 14 which is slidable on rods 18, and the run of the conveyer adjacent a station 8 to which batches of bottles are fed may be temporarily halted, to receive each batch, by stop means 24. The other conveyer run is continuously driven by chain sprockets 15, in synchronism with the screw conveyer 17. The bottles are initially fed from a reservoir 1 by endless pusher conveyers 3 which discharge into channels 7 of a feeder 6 provided with means (not shown) for turning the bottle bottom downwards. In a modification, Fig. 5, the screw conveyer 17 is spaced from the conveyer 10 and, if there are bottles missing from a batch, the conveyer 10 may be accelerated to ensure that the conveyer 17 is filled. Missing bottles are detected by a light device (33), Fig. 9 (not shown), which brings an accelerating mechanism, Figs. 10, 11 (not shown), into operation.
