Abstract

1377029 Graft polymers KANEGAFUCHI KAGAKU KOGYO KK 11 Dec 1972 [10 Dec 1971] 56962/72 Heading C3G A graft polymer is produced by polymerizing from 60 to 30 parts by weight of a monomer mixture composed of 30% to 60% by weight of an aromatic vinyl compound, 10% to 40% of methyl methacrylate, 10% to 4% of an acrylic acid ester and 5% to 20% of acrylonitrile in the presence of 40 to 70 parts of a butadiene rubber in latex form. The graft polymers are used as modifiers in vinylidene chloride resins, e.g. a copolymer of vinylidene chloride with vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride or acrylonitrile. Examples are given in which styrene, methyl methacrylate, n-butyl acrylate and acrylonitrile are grafted on to butadiene-styrene rubber by emulsion polymerization and the products blended with a vinylidene chloride resin.
