Abstract

1376673 Deck joints and connections H STOBERL 29 Feb 1972 [2 March 1971] 9340/72 Heading B7S An edge connector 1 comprising a main body portion of rigid material forming a corner between deck sheet 6 and hull sheet 7 has a pair of flange parts 4, 5 projecting outwardly from the body portion to define recess 8 which receives the deck sheet. A second pair of flange parts 2, 3 project outwardly from the body portion to define a second recess 8 which receives the hull sheet. The flange parts are constructed so as to converge in the outward direction with the recess becoming narrower to produce a prestress when the deck and hull sheets are received in their respective recesses. The inner surfaces 2a, 3a, 4a, 5a of the flange parts are roughened to facilitate a strong seal between the flange parts and the deck and hull sheets.
