Abstract
1376427 Telescopic crane Jibs HARNISCHFEGER CORP 7 June 1973 27217/73 Heading B8B A telescopic boom comprises four tubular sections: fly 1, second 2, third 3 and base 4. As shown in the operational position the fly section 1 is pinned at 9 to the second section 2 to move therewith when hydraulic actuator 5, pinned at C to the inner end of the section 3 and at B to the inner end of the section 2, is operated. The section 3 is moved relative to the section 4 by hydraulic actuator 6 pinned at A to the inner end of the base section 4 and at D to the inner end of the section 3. To collapse the boom for road transport from the position shown actuator 54 is retracted until the fly section 1 can be pinned at 10 to the actuator 6 at pin hole 8 thereon. The fly section 1 is then unpinned from the second section 2 at 9. Extension of the actuator 5 effectively retracts the fly section 1 into the second section 2 by extending the second section 2, the fly section 1 being held by the actuator 6. The fly section 1 can now be pinned at 7 to the outer end of the section 2 and unpinned from the actuator 6. Retraction of the actuator 5 now retracts the section 2 into the section 3 whereupon retraction of the actuator 6 retracts the section 3 into the base section 4 and the boom is ready for transport. Access holes are provided to facilitate the insertion and removal of the various pins. Extension of the boom from the transport position to the operational position shown reverses the above steps.
