Abstract

1374274 Load cell: tensile testing UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 10 Aug 1972 [11 Oct 1971] 47242/71 Headings G1S and G1W A load cell, which may used in a tensile testing machine comprises a base 22 Fig. 4, having an upper part 22a which distorts when a tensile force is applied via rod 27, and a pair of elongate members 23 which deflect relative to each other when part 22a distorts to amplify the distortion. The elongate arms may carry a transducer 29 to measure the separation of the arms. In Fig. 1, the distortable upper part 2a of base 2 carries four elongate arms 3, and the separation S1 or S2 may be measured by a variable inductance transducer (not shown).
