Abstract

1374254 Mobile folding tower cranes GENERAL CRANE INDUSTRIES Ltd 3 May 1972 [6 May 1971] 20095/72 Divided out of 1374253 Heading B8B A mobile tower crane shown in the transport position comprises a telescopic tower 13 with three sections at the top of which is a slewing turntable 24 on which is mounted for luffing by cylinders 47 a telescopic jib 44. The crane is mounted on a semi-trailer with a first chassis part 101 carrying base mounting 11 for the tower 13 (erected by cylinders 18) and a second chassis part 102 detachably connected at 104 to the first part 101. Crawler tracks 120 are provided on either side of the vehicle and, for operation on rough ground where road wheels 122 cannot operate are used to support the crane. This is done by extending the tracks 120 laterally of the vehicles, Fig. 2 (not shown), raising the wheels 122 by pivotal movement about axis 126 by operation of cylinders 128 and detaching the chassis part 101 from the chassis part 102. The crane may then be moved to the required position with the tower 13 in the vertical, but retracted, position, the jib 44 being horizontal, Fig. 3 (not shown).
