1373713 Haymaker MASCHINENFABRIK FAHR AG 17 Jan 1972 [16 Jan 1971] 2082/72 Heading A1F A haymaking machine has a tine carrier 4 which is axially and pivotably displaceable about support member 3 and tines 5 can thereby be brought into and out of engagement with harvested material so that a swath is formed. The tines are held in a horizontal position Fig. 3 when inoperative but they move to a vertical position Fig. I when rake wheel 1 is rotated. Since centrifugal force urges tine carrier 4 outwards against return spring 14. Guide rod 6 joins support member 3 to tine carrier 4 via ball joints 7, and moves so that tine carrier 4 is pivoted about the longitudinal axis of the support member. Pivotal movement is limited by stop 9 on the tine carrier cooperating with stop 10 on the support member. An eccentric wheel 12 is rotated via cable 13, and at the position where the swath is to be formed the distance between the securing point of the cable on the eccentric and on the tine carrier is at its greatest, with the effect that the cable pulls the tine carrier inwards. The tines are briefly pivoted upwards and the harvested material is released from the tines and piled into a swath. Damage due to over-loading is reduced because the tines can yield against the centrifugal force. The tine carrier can be mounted in a sleevelike bearing which is firmly connected to boss 2 of the rake wheel. The tine carrier can also be mounted on the support member of the rake wheel so as to be pivotable but not axially displaceable. Axial movement of a centrifugal weight, which is hingedly connected to the tine carrier by the guide rod, causes the tine carrier to rotate.
