1372473 Knitting machines ELITEX-ZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 27 April 1972 [30 April 1971] 19528/72 Heading D1C [Also in Division G3] A pattern control system for a knitting machine includes a matrix 9 where the pattern can be formed in its correct courses and wales by coloured pins 16a, b, c. The machine needle cylinders 1, 1a have needle control elements 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 spaced around the cylinders with the elements 3, 5 and 4, 6 being angularly displaced by angles α and # respectively from the machine axis which is defined by the position of element 2. These displaced control elements are connected in pairs to the matrix 9 through shaping circuits 10, 13 and register delays 12, 15 respectively. Element 2 is connected directly to the matrix through shaping circuit 8. In operation the matrix 9 is read in synchronism with the needles 7 passing element 2 and thus signals corresponding to the coloured pins 16b, 16c have to be stored until the respective needle has reached the respective one of the elements 3, 4 and the registers 12, 15 are stepped in synchronism with the needle cylinders accordingly. Switches 11, 14 are used in position R for knitting back patterns and are used in position Z for knitting Jacquard patterns when the matrix is read at half the speed of the needle cylinders so that only alternate needles are used.
