The nip 17 leads to a wider nip 31, the width of which may be substantially equal to said thickness. A shown, the product is a pipe of rectangular cross-section shaped about a mandrel 9; a modification is described for the production of circular section pipes. Alternatively, a mandrel is not used, and one roll has a groove and the other a co-operating projection whereby products of semicircular or V-shaped cross-sections may be produced.
