1371264 Ball-and-socket couplings; antitheft devices J D BOLTON 5 March 1973 [1 March 1972] 9471/72 Headings B7T and B7J A socket of a ball-and-socket coupling comprises a housing 1 which encloses a plastics material block 3 having a ball receiving recess 3a, there being a pin 4 slidable and rotatable in a bore 3b between a first position in which it pre- vents ingress or'egress of the ball and a second position in which'a cavity 4a of the pin is aligned with the recess and allows ingress and egress of the ball, a peg 9 when inserted in a blind bore 3c locking the pin in the preventing position. The peg when in bore 3c has its outer end flush with block 3 and can only be removed by a key or special tool. The pin and peg may also be made of plastics material.
