Abstract

1371226 Jet looms W SCHEFFEL 22 Nov 1971 [20 Nov 1970 21 Dec 1970 10 April 1971] 54199/71 Heading D1E Weft, measuring, pulling back, cutting. Weft is drawn off bobbins by a continuously rotating roller 203 and is pulled into a loop by a guide member 210 on an endless chain 206. In a further embodiment, (Fig. 1, not shown). The return run of chain 206 is deflected from a straight path by auxiliary rollers (208). A roller 233 which is driven at the maximum speed of the weft at the end of a cam 240 oscillated lever 234 pulls the weft taut after insertion. On the opposite side of the shed, weft is caught by a suction tube 254 and clamped by a clamp 243, 248. The two cooperating parts 243 and 248 of the clamp are pivoted on a shaft 244 and biased by respective springs 246 and 249 attached to a stationary point and the sley respectively such that the clamp opens when the sley is in the back position and closes when it moves forward. Weft is cut by cutters 251 mounted on the sley and operated by a fixed stop 253. On the insertion side, weft is cut by a rotating blade (231) Fig. 8 (not shown), when the sley beats up. Picking Nozzles. The picking nozzle may be pivotable about a vertical axis, Fig. 10 and its front end may have a pin 229 guided in a yoke 230 attached to the sley so that the nozzle pivots forwardly at beat-up, to cut the weft against blade (231, Fig. 1).
